Seedbed Farm Internship

Seedbed Farms is part of a broader community initiative focused on promoting cooperation through three areas: work, study, and community life. This internship is an invitation to learn concrete farming skills on a regenerative farm as well as to encounter a model for cooperative life and work.

Structure

There are two types of internships available this fall: 9-week or 15-week internships, with paid opportunities depending on experience. Both internships begin September 7, 2026. Applicants can submit their day and time availability in their application. Either internship can accommodate up to 25 hours a week.

Learning Objectives:

On-the-job training and project development, where interns will learn the following

1. Rotational grazing of our cows, goats, and chickens, its impact on the health of the animals and of the land, and development and management of farm infrastructure including electric fencing, a mobile chicken coop, and other equipment.

2. Organic farming methods for bed preparation, soil amendments, planting, crop rotation, and weed management. This will include learning how to use large and small machinery including BCS and tractor use, along with garden equipment such as a harvester, seeder, silage tarps, and hand tools.

3. Stocking and distributing products at our community farm store.

4. Seasonal harvesting and processing techniques, including making salsas, pestos, jams, bone broth, sourdough bread, and more!

Additionally, depending on interest and/or experience, interns will have the opportunity to participate in our new initiatives which include developing our fruit orchard and expanding our existing compost system.

Community Engagement

As a cooperative farm, we emphasize community engagement. Interns will participate in this area in the following ways:

• Designing, coordinating, and running our inaugural Fall Fest for our community members, local farmers, and the broader community.

• Weekly community farm meals

• Monthly community work days

Study ‍ ‍

Finally, we are always engaged in understanding what’s happening with agriculture locally and beyond. Interns will participate in readings, films, and discussions on the social and technological developments that affect agriculture and sustainability.

What we are looking for in an intern?

Working at Seedbed Farm is an active, dynamic, and community-engaged experience. We are looking for enthusiastic applicants who are interested in both the work and rich rewards of caring for land and animals in a process that regenerates the land for future years to come. Spanish-speaking is also a plus but not a necessity.
